Lebuhraya Pantai Timur Fasa 1
Route / Interchanges: Karak in Pahang state to Jabor in Terengganu state with 9 interchanges, namely Karak, Lanchang, Temerloh, Chenor, Maran, Sri Jaya, Gambang Kuantan and Jabor
The East Coast Expressway Phase 1 (ECE1) is an extension of the KL-Karak Higway (see KLK) spanning 174km. As a-LPT highway flagship under ANIH Berhad, the Expressway shortens travel time by half; from the Klang Valley to major cities and tourists destinations in the East Coast states, especially Kuantan. LPT serves to be a catalyst to spur growth in the 3 east coast states of Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan.
Planning for ECE1/LPT started in mid-1990s when the KLK/LPT was upgraded from a 2-lane highway into a 4-lane dual carriageway highway. The upgrading was completed in 1997. Construction of the ECE1/LPT began in 2000, and it was opened in 2004. The journey from Gombak to Jabor using LPT takes approximately 3 hours, about half what it used to be before the Expressway was completed.
